Washington, D.C. | www.adc.org | July 29, 2024 — In response to the recent change at the top of the Democratic ticket, with Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee, ADC teamed up with our partners at Molitico and the Community Pulse to survey our membership on the presidential election. The survey took place July 27th — 28th, 2024.
In a previous poll conducted in May 2024, President Joe Biden polled at 7% amongst our members; a low showing that was unsurprising due to the retiring president’s staunch support for Israel’s continued genocide in Gaza.
The latest survey featuring Harris demonstrates far broader support for the Democratic nominee. In this latest poll, Harris more than quadrupled Biden’s support – Harris polled at 27.5% in the latest poll. Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein’s strong polling at 45.3%, akin to the previous poll, demonstrates consistent community support due in no small part to her vocal support for Palestinian human rights. Although Dr. Jill Stein is still the leading candidate among community members, her support is much softer in battleground states. A more detailed breakdown of the numbers, including a state by state breakdown, will soon be made public.
Nearly 18% of respondents indicated they are undecided on who they will vote for in November, and 6% indicated they will not vote. With nearly 1 in 4 voters either undecided or inclined to sit out the election, there is plenty of room for Harris, or any other candidate, to earn more support from the community, if the right positions are taken.
Republican Party nominee Donald Trump is polling at 2%, and Independent Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is at 1.3%.
ADC is the country’s largest Arab American organization, representing over one hundred thousand Americans of Arab heritage across the country, or roughly 10% of all registered Arab voters. 1.2 million Arab Americans are registered to vote.
The survey was conducted via SMS text messaging to 43,500 ADC members. Nearly 10% of contacts responded to the poll, and of those about 3,200 were verified and matched to the voter files.
Understanding our members’ opinions on such a monumental election is critical to how ADC forms its policy positions. Our mantra, for community by community, will always be our guiding principles and the foundation of the work we do at ADC as we navigate our positions on behalf of the community.
