Defending Rights, Empowering Our Community
We are dedicated to protecting freedoms and challenging injustices, for Arab Americans and our allies. Through litigation, we challenge concerted attempts to violate our civil liberties and those who fight alongside us. As the government and Israel lobby escalate the suppressive tactics used in the face of growing dissent, now more than ever, our fight is America’s fight.
About
Our Legal Department
Since 1980, the ADC Legal Department has advocated for the civil rights of Arab and Muslim Americans during challenging political times. The attacks on our community have escalated each decade, as part of a coordinated effort to eradicate dissent on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. These efforts impact the lives of ordinary Americans who happen to be Arab or Muslim, and Americans who are not of Arab or Muslim origin but who oppose our government’s military action in the Middle East.
ADC's Legal Department tracks and responds to allegations of discrimination and civil rights violations by employers, businesses, and government agencies including immigration, law enforcement, K-12 schools, and universities. We bring original, high-stakes litigation challenging the government’s increasingly suppressive regime designed to silence increasing objections among the population to our support for Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians, regime change wars in the Middle East, and other related policies. We also provide amicus support for other parties bringing crucial legal challenges or defending against government oppression. As the threat from government and the pro-Israel lobby grows, we are increasing our efforts to safeguard Americans’ constitutional and civil liberties.
