No Frontiers Q&A with Interim President Jenin Younes
American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) National Legal Director and Interim President Jenin Younes was interviewed by No Frontiers, a Substack publication, with which she addressed the growing phenomenon of antisemitic hoaxes and their use as political tools to suppress Arab American and pro-Palestinian free speech.
The No Frontiers analysis, which identified 65 antisemitic hoax incidents across 14 countries between 2016 and 2026, underscores Jenin’s argument that many high-profile antisemitism claims are strategically manufactured to conflate anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism, suppress Palestinian solidarity and justify Israel’s actions. These are incidents in which the alleged perpetrators were later found to have staged or fabricated the events.
Jenin discussed her current case defending Janine Ali, a CodePink activist sued under the Civil Rights Act of 1981 by a Betar USA member following a vigil for Gaza children. The ADC represents Ali pro bono and has filed a motion for a reconsideration, which is currently pending. Jenin described the case as part of a broader “lawfare” campaign designed to weaponize civil rights status and legal costs to deter Arab Americans and activists from participating in pro-Palestine demonstrations.
The ADC’s work on cases like Ali’s reflects its broader mission: protecting the civil rights of Arab Americans, defending free expression and pushing back against the legal, political and institutional forces that Jenin argues disproportionately target Arab and Muslim communities.
