After San Diego | Confronting Anti-Muslim Hate in America

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) was featured on Arab Talk for a conversation on the deadly shooting attack on a mosque complex in San Diego, in which two gunmen killed three people. The episode discusses the tragedy within a broader and escalating pattern of anti-Muslim violence across the United States.

ADC’s National Legal Director and Interim President, Jenin Younes, joined the program to discuss the legal landscape surrounding hate crimes targeting Muslims. She addressed how anti-Muslim hate has been fueled by political leaders and high-profile public figures who have normalized dehumanizing language, as well as disparities in how hate crimes against Muslim and Arab Americans are investigated and prosecuted.

The conversation also highlighted the need for concrete legal and political measures to strengthen civil rights protections for Muslim Americans, reflecting ADC’s broader mission to defend Arab and Muslim communities against political and institutional forces that disproportionately target them.
