Breaking: Members of Congress Introduce Resolution Honoring Wadee Alfayoumi

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | March 14, 2024 – Today, Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) joined with Representatives Delia Ramirez (D-IL, 3) and Lauren Underwood (D-IL, 14) in introducing a resolution honoring and remembering 6-year-old Wadee Al-Fayoumi. This past October Wadee was brutally murdered in a horrific anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab hate crime. Wadee was fatally stabbed 26 times by his 71-year-old landlord, Joseph Czuba. Wadee’s mother was also stabbed. The murder occurred only eight days after Wadee’s sixth birthday celebration. ADC has partnered with nationally renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump in representing Wadee’s mother.

ADC encourages you to contact your member of Congress today and ask they support and co-sponsor the resolution. It is important that lawmakers support this resolution and that is only possible with your action.

ADC National Executive Director Abed Ayoub said, “This resolution is a critical recognition of both the light of Wadee and a clear denunciation of the disgusting, dehumanizing narratives that drove his murder. It is one that every Member of Congress must support. Hate has no place in America.”

State authorities have charged Czuba with three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of hate crimes for the stabbing. Federal investigations are ongoing.
