Washington, D.C. | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) condemns the Israeli military’s reckless attack on a diplomatic convoy in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin. On May 21, Israeli soldiers opened fire near European diplomats on an official mission to assess the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s ongoing genocide. The Israeli army admitted to firing “warning shots,” claiming the group had strayed from a pre-approved route—an excuse that only confirms the brazenness of Israel’s contempt for diplomatic norms and international law.

This was not a misunderstanding. It was a deliberate escalation aimed at intimidating the international community and concealing Israel’s crimes. Diplomats were forced to flee under fire while carrying out a lawful and peaceful mission. Countries including Spain, Italy, France, Egypt, and Turkey have condemned the incident. The EU’s top diplomat called it an unacceptable threat to the lives of envoys.

The timing of this attack is no coincidence. It comes just weeks after Prime Minister Netanyahu openly sabotaged President Trump’s Middle East trip and ceasefire efforts in Gaza. Israel continues to show utter disrespect for U.S. leadership—undermining American credibility, isolating us from global allies, and entangling us in its lawlessness.

The United States must respond. Silence is complicity. If we care about our standing in the world, we must condemn this latest violation and take action to get aid into Gaza—alone or in collaboration with the nations that have had enough of Israel’s starvation campaign and brutal war on civilians. This was not just an attack on diplomats. It was another assault on truth, justice, and Palestinian life.

The world is watching. It will remember who stood up—and who stood by.
