Hatch Campaign Repeats Slander Against Arab Peoples, Arab Culture
The Senator Orrin Hatch for President campaign has repeated the slander against the Arab peoples and the name “Osama” that large numbers of boys have been named “Osama” in the Arab world in honor of Osama Bin Laden since the bombing of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania one year ago. Jeff Flint, Press Secretary for the Hatch for President Campaign, repeated the charge in the Detroit Free Press on August 14. Clearly, the Hatch campaign feels free to slander the Arab world and stigmatize the name “Osama” with impunity, even after being alerted to the error and offensiveness of these remarks.
We urge all those who have not yet done so to demand that Senator Hatch retract these remarks and apologize to the Arab peoples and the Arab-American community for this baseless and unwarranted affront. Contact information:
