Congresswoman Yvette Clarke to Deliver Keynote Remarks at Civil Rights Luncheon

Washington, D.C. | www.adc.org | September 19, 2017 – ADC is excited to announce that the Keynote Speaker at this year’s ADC Annual Civil Rights Luncheon will be Congresswomen Yvette Clarke. Congresswoman Clarke serves on the Energy and Commerce, Small Business, and Ethics committees. In addition to her committee work, Congresswoman Clarke serves as the At-Large Member of the Congressional Black Caucus; the Chair of the Multicultural Media Caucus; the Co-Chair on Black Women & Girls Caucus and the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caribbean Caucus. Congresswoman Clarke currently resides in the neighborhood where she grew up, in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn.

Mr. Vince Warren, Executive Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights, was originally scheduled to give the Keynote at the Civil Rights Luncheon. Mr. Warren will now deliver the ADC Saturday Evening Gala Keynote Remarks. The Gala will be held on the evening of Saturday September 23, 2017, doors at 7:30 P.M.

During the Civil Rights Luncheon ADC will honor dedicated individuals who have committed themselves to the advancements of civil rights and social justice. Mr. Jamil Dakwar will receive the Ralph Johns Award; Professor Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia of the ?Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic – Penn State Law School will receive the Excellence in Legal Advocacy Award; and Professor Khaled Beydoun will receive the Advocate of the Year Award.
