This prestigious award recognizes Delegate Sam Rasoul’s exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and tireless advocacy for the betterment of the Arab American community.
The Distinguished Public Service Award will be presented to Delegate Sam Rasoul at the ADC National Convention’s Gala on Saturday, June 17th, 2023. We invite you to register for the convention and join us in celebrating his remarkable achievements.
Delegate Sam Rasoul made history in 2014 when he was elected to the General Assembly as Virginia’s first Muslim legislator. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently prioritized the well-being of everyday Virginians and championed legislation that addresses their needs. With a deep passion for building coalitions and fostering unity, Delegate Rasoul has brought people together to fight for the common good and create positive change.
Growing up in Roanoke, Virginia, Sam witnessed the importance of community and public service. He has a professional background in nonprofit healthcare administration, organizational development, and finance, and currently utilizes his expertise as a management consultant. In 2016, Sam launched the Impact Center, an initiative that has empowered over 2,000 activists and candidates across Virginia through trust-building and coalition-building strategies.
Delegate Rasoul’s guiding philosophy is the Golden Rule: treating others as you would want to be treated. He leads with the values of truth, love, and grit, embodying a principled approach to public service. Sam resides in the foothills of Appalachia with his wife, Layaly, and their three children, finding inspiration in his family’s values.
