March 21, 2006, Washington, DC–Today, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) filed a comment with the US Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regarding its Equal Opportunity Survey (EO Survey).
Implemented in 2000, the EO Survey required non-construction federal contractors to submit basic information about their employees to OFCCP, including employee demographics, applicant flow, hiring rates, promotions, terminations, and distribution of salaries. This information would allow OFCCP to identify contractor-employers who were systemically discriminating against their employees, so that OFCCP could address such unlawful behavior.
By submitting the comment, written by ADC Legal Advisor Lema Bashir, Esq., ADC is joining other groups in supporting the EO Survey, and asking the Department of Labor not to eliminate this critical program. ADC hopes to see the Department of Labor taking the responsible action of maintaining the EO Survey, and ensuring that it is implemented properly to maximize its effectiveness.
