ADC Requests Meeting with FBI to Discuss Arab-American and Muslim Concerns

WASHINGTON, DC – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), the premier grassroots and civil rights organization in the Arab-American community, has requested an urgent meeting with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to discuss issues of concern to Arab and Muslim Americans. The request was made today in a letter to FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III, by ADC President Ziad J. Asali.
The request for this meeting was prompted by recent media reports that the FBI has been developing demographic profiles of Arab and Muslim-American communities, including the tallying of mosques throughout the country.
Dr. Asali also expressed interest in discussing with the FBI Director and his staff the possibility of war with Iraq and the impact that such an event might have on the civil rights and physical safety of Arab Americans.
