Washington, DC | www.adc.org | August 16th, 2017 | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that Dena Takruri will be receiving the 2017 Rose Nader Award at ADC’s 37th Annual National Convention in Washington, DC.

The Rose Nader award is presented by Ralph and Claire Nader in honor of their mother. This year, Ralph and Claire Nader will present the award to Dena Takruri at the Saturday night Gala, which will take place on September 23, 2017. The award is given out each year to an individual with unwavering dedication and commitment to values of equality and justice.

Dena Takruri is a Senior Presenter at AJ+ and one of the channel’s founding members. She is recognized for her bold and immersive reporting, characterized by speaking truth to power in any setting and giving voice to those unheard. Many of her videos have gone viral, earning millions of views on Facebook and YouTube.

About the Awardee:

Dena has reported internationally on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and on Europe’s refugee crisis, where she was one of the first journalists to ever broadcast using Facebook Live.

Among the domestic stories she’s covered are the 2016 presidential race, Flint’s water crisis, AIPAC’s annual policy conference, the fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock, and ICE’s crackdown on undocumented people under Trump. She has extensively covered the #BlackLivesMatter movement and issues related to Arab and Muslim communities in the U.S.
