ADC Legal Department to Speak in Six Panels at Three Upcoming National Conferences

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) Legal Department will be represented by Legal Advisors: Nawar Shora, JD; Leila Laoudji, JD; and Kareem Shora, JD, LL.M. in six upcoming panels at three national conferences scheduled to be held in Washington, DC and Miami, FL in the coming few weeks:
1) The Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication Conference-
ADC Legal Advisor Nawar Shora is a scheduled speaker at a panel in the upcoming Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication Conference in Miami, FL. Shora is scheduled to participate in a panel entitled, “Terrorism’s Threat to Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Information.” The panel will take place at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort and Towers on Friday, August 9, at 1:30 p.m.
2) The ABA Annual Meeting-
ADC Legal Advisor Kareem Shora is a scheduled speaker at three panels in the upcoming American Bar Association (ABA) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. First, on Saturday, August 10, Shora is scheduled to participate in a panel entitled, “Civil Rights in a Time of Crisis.” The panel, sponsored by the ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession, will take place at the Marriott Wordman Hotel from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Second, also on Saturday, August 10, Shora is scheduled to participate in a panel entitled, “Racial Profiling and Traffic Safety: Can the Two be Reconciled?” This second panel, sponsored by the ABA Judicial Division, will take place at the Mayflower Hotel in the Pennsylvania Room from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Finally, on Tuesday, August 13, Shora is scheduled to participate in a panel entitled, “The Government Wants to Know.” This third panel, sponsored by the ABA Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, will take place at the Marriott Wordman Hotel from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
3) Annual Meeting of the National Network on Behalf of Battered Immigrant Women-
ADC Legal Advisor Leila Laoudji is a scheduled speaker at two panels in the upcoming Annual Meeting of the National Network on Behalf of Battered Immigrant Woman in Miami, FL. The meeting is sponsored by the Now Legal Defense and Education Fund Immigrant Woman Program, the Family Violence Prevention Fund, and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. First, on Friday, August 23, Laoudji is scheduled to participate in a panel entitled, “Current Issues.” The panel will take place at the Radisson Deauville Resort in Miami Beach from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Second, also on Friday, August 23, Laoudji is scheduled to participate in a panel entitled, “Organizing to Help Communities Affected by the Post-911 Environment.” This second panel will also take place at the Radisson Deauville Resort in Miami Beach from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
