ADC Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Washington, DC – On January 16, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), the largest Arab American grassroots civil rights organization, will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As one of the greatest civil rights leaders the world has known, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1968 before his assasination.
ADC supports Dr. King’s message of tolerance, unity, and civil liberties for all. ADC remembers the efforts and sacrifices of Dr. King and many others whose contributions to civil rights have paved the way for other generations.
As part of this celebration, ADC Michigan will also honor Martin Luther King, Jr. on Friday, January 27, ADC Michigan will be holding its 7th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Awards Dinner. The annual event is held to honor the winners of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship contest, which was open to all Arab and Chaldean American high school seniors in Michigan. Among the guests is Ms. Hana Ali, the daughter of the legendary former heavyweight boxing champion of the world Muhammad Ali, who will deliver the keynote address at the event. She is the co-author of the book, More Than a Hero: Muhammad Ali’s Life Lessons Presented Through His Daughter’s Eyes.
