Call on Congress to Recognize The Genocide: Support Rashida Tlaib’s Resolution

The American- Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), alongside 88 other human and civil rights organizations, endorsed a resolution (H.R. 876) introduced by Representative Rashida Tlaib, officially recognizing the Genocide of the Palestinian People in Gaza. 

This landmark resolution forces Congress to confront US complicity and name the annihilation of Palestinians for what it is —  a genocide.

For over 750 days, the world has watched a televised genocide, while members of Congress and Israeli top government officials blatantly called for the genocide of Palestinians. The US is an active participant in this genocide, as it continues to send billions in taxpayer-funded weapons to Israel with the intent of wiping out Palestinians in Gaza. H.R. 876 is a refusal to be complicit in silence. It documents the overwhelming evidence of genocide, including:   

• How Israel’s actions meet the legal definition of genocide under the Genocide Convention. While citing conclusions from the International Association of Genocide Scholars and a UN Independent International Committee of Inquiry that Israel is committing Genocide in Gaza.   
• The severe undercount of the reported 67,160 Palestinians killed, with 83% of those killed being civilians (as confirmed by Israeli Military’s own data)  
• Calling out the systematic destruction of Gaza’s health and education systems, as well as the forced displacement, the man-made famine, and the intentional targeting of civilians in designated “safe zones”, and the list goes on.  

Recognizing the genocide in Gaza is a necessary step to end U.S. complicity and involvement in the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.  

Members of Congress need to feel the weight of our collective demands; there must be a massive public outcry.
