Amjad Masad v. Randy Fine

ADC filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on behalf of Amjad Masad after Rep. Randy Fine blocked him from the congressman’s official X account, @RepFine, for replying critically to Fine’s anti-Muslim posts. The lawsuit argues that an official account used for legislative and constituent business is a public forum, and that blocking a constituent because of his viewpoint violates the First Amendment. After being sued, Fine unblocked Masad and adopted a social media policy he can reverse at will, a move the court found was “a clear indication that Defendant was trying to rid himself of this litigation.” ADC continues to seek a declaratory judgment and an injunction barring Fine from blocking constituents based on their views.
