Miami Dade High School District Teacher Berates Palestinian Student on Multicultural Day

ADC expressed concerns to Miami Dade School District about a teacher who berated a Palestinian high school student for wearing a keffiyeh to celebrate her culture on the school’s multicultural day. Despite repeated attempts to discuss recurring anti-Palestinian hatred, Principal Dr. Maggie Rodriguez, Superintendent Dr. Jose L. Dotres, and the district executive team refused to respond. ADC offered training to assist teachers and staff in better understanding cultures and concerns of Arab and Muslim students. Miami Dade School District refused to consider or offer any training focusing on these students.
