Job Summary:

The ADC seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Executive Assistant / Special Assistant to support our National Executive in Washington, D.C. This vital role is responsible for managing daily operations, supporting strategic initiatives, and ensuring effective communication across the organization and with external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and will be deeply committed to ADC’s mission. Familiarity with Arab culture and the issues facing Arab Americans is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

  • Serve as the primary gatekeeper for the National Executive, managing emails to prioritize urgent requests, coordinating high-priority meetings, appointments, and travel logistics, and proactively adjusting his schedule to meet shifting priorities.
  • Anticipate the executive's needs and proactively solve problems by preparing necessary information or resources in advance, addressing potential issues before they arise, and making quick, informed decisions on scheduling, correspondence, and urgent requests.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and organization of correspondence, reports, and presentations to ensure seamless communication and workflow.
  • Handle expense reports, reimbursements, and ensure timely and accurate processing to maintain financial organization.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for documents and handle confidential information with discretion.

Strategic Project Assistance

  • Support the National Executive in strategic planning by preparing background materials, conducting research, and tracking progress on key initiatives.
  • Prepare briefs, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders to facilitate clear and effective communication.
  • Coordinate and monitor special projects, ensuring timelines are met and tasks are executed efficiently.
  • Manage relationships with board members, donors, and high-profile partners by maintaining regular communication and coordinating meetings.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

  • Support the National Executive in strategic planning by preparing background materials, conducting research, and tracking progress on key initiatives.
  • Prepare briefs, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders to facilitate clear and effective communication.
  • Coordinate and monitor special projects, ensuring timelines are met and tasks are executed efficiently.
  • Act as a liaison to board members, donors, and high-profile partners by facilitating regular communication and coordinating meetings on behalf of the National Executive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Executive Assistant, Special Assistant, or similar role supporting senior leadership, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management and communication tools (e.g., Asana, Slack).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and work with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a high level of emotional intelligence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in nonprofit or public sector organizations, particularly in an advocacy-focused or member-driven environment.

Job Description

ADC is seeking a motivated and creative Digital and Social Media Organizer to join our team. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our digital communications/organizing strategy. The ideal candidate is passionate about social justice, has a deep understanding of digital platforms, and is able to create compelling content that increases our reach and impact.

Duties

  1. Work with the Communications Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive digital and social media strategy that aligns with ADC's mission and goals.
  2. Manage ADC's presence on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  3. Create and curate engaging content that educates and inspires our audience, while promoting ADC's initiatives and events.
  4. Monitor trends, audience behavior, and engagement metrics to optimize content and strategy.
  5. Coordinate with communications team to ensure brand consistency across all digital platforms.
  6. Respond to member queries in a timely manner, fostering a strong community of support.
  7. Use social media to engage, build strategic partnerships, and drive advocacy initiatives.
  8. Report on online feedback and social media insights to internal teams and stakeholders.
  9. Keep abreast of the latest digital technologies and social media trends; implement these new technologies in developing campaigns and update current campaigns to include new information.

Qualifications

  1. Proven work experience as a Social media coordinator or similar role.
  2. Expertise in multiple social media platforms and with social media management tools.
  3. In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics.
  4. Proficiency in using social media software to monitor social media conversations.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to multitask and work on tight deadlines.
  6. Strong understanding of issues relating to the Arab-American community.
  7. Proficiency in Arabic language is a plus.

Position is in Washington, D.C., staff is in-office, with hybrid during summer months.

Duties would include:

  • Intakes: Conducting client intakes and follow ups
  • Provide direct legal services to community members
  • Pursue and/or support litigation in State and Federal court, where necessary, to achieve objectives
  • Amicus Briefs: Assists with the research and writing of ADC Amicus Briefs
  • Policy Work: Will assist in policy related matters when required
  • Assist in developing strategies to grow the organization’s advocacy efforts on key policy issues
  • Speak on behalf of the organization’s work in the media and other related opportunities
  • Work jointly with key staff member to help develop and coordinate activities of the initiative regarding communications, policy advocacy, partnership alliances, and public engagement, and fundraising.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a J.D. from an accredited university, and be barred in at least one jurisdiction
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience as an attorney
  • Experience working as an attorney on civil rights and immigration matters
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of Civil Rights and Social Justice issues
  • Supportive and committed to ADC’s mission
  • Possesses excellent research and writing skills
  • Understanding of issues impacting the Arab American community
  • Understanding of the legislative and policy making process

It is with urgency that we announce a crucial job opening within our organization – the position of Intake Specialist. This role is essential in supporting our ongoing mission by serving as the first point of contact for individuals seeking assistance and ensuring they are connected to the appropriate resources and services.


Key Duties

  • Client Intakes: Conduct initial client screenings via phone, email, or in person to assess eligibility and determine the nature of their needs.
  • Follow-Up Coordination: Maintain timely communication with clients to gather additional information, provide updates, or facilitate referrals.
  • Information Management: Accurately document client details in the case management system and prepare summaries for internal review.
  • Resource Connection: Provide clients with information on ADC’s services and external resources that may address their needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the legal team, policy advocates, and other departments to ensure clients are efficiently referred to the appropriate services.
  • Administrative Support: Assist in managing the intake queue, maintaining accurate records, and generating reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to client confidentiality and discretion.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in case management systems or database software.
    • Supportive and committed to ADC’s mission.
  • Preferred:

    • Experience working in a legal, nonprofit, or civil rights advocacy environment.
    • Familiarity with issues affecting the Arab American community.

ADC Legal Internship Opportunities

ADC is the country’s largest national Arab-American civil rights organization. ADC has defended the Arab-American community for 39 years against defamation, discrimination, racism, and stereotyping. ADC offers pro-bono legal counseling through its Legal Department.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have completed at least one (1) year of law school. Rising 2Ls and 3Ls are eligible.
Preferred Experience

  • Constitutional law or seminar, immigration law, international law, human and civil rights, legislative law, clinical law
Schedule

  • Full-time during the summer. Schedule is negotiable during the school semester.
Duties

  • Conducting client intake: Legal associates are responsible for conducting the legal intake when people report an incident to ADC over the phone or online. They also conduct phone interviews with clients to help determine the facts and legal matters of each case.
  • Casework: Legal associates are responsible for their own cases under the direct supervision of the ADC attorneys. Cases can involve employment discrimination, airline discrimination, educational discrimination, hate crimes, immigration, and freedom of speech.
  • Amicus Briefs: Legal associates assist with the research and writing of ADC amicus briefs in high profile cases, including cases before the Supreme Court of the United States.
  • Policy Work: Legal associates draft policy memos and letters to federal agencies. They also have opportunities to represent the ADC at various meetings and conferences with civil and human rights organizations and federal agencies. In addition, legal associates are strongly encouraged to attend hearings and write articles related to the issues that ADC handles.
