Watch ADC President on C-SPAN

ADC President Hon. Mary Rose Oakar participated in a Congressional Briefing about civil rights and liberties in the US post 9-11 on July 22. The panel was entitled ‘Domestic Policy: Immediate Response and (Commission) Recommendations’, and was sponsored by Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA). Oakar addressed the topic of increased security and the effect on our civil liberties. She said “Certainly, there is no greater government responsibility today than to work to prevent future terrorist attacks. But instead of a focused and effective law enforcement investigation the government turned to radical and broad measures that threaten basic rights.”
