Syrians eligible for TPS must file their application no later than September 25
Washington, DC | www.adc.org | July 25, 2012 ? The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that Syrian nationals in the United States may apply for Temporary Protective Status (TPS) on March 29, 2012. USCIS grants TPS when nationals of a country are prevented from returning to that country safely.
Designation of Syria as a country eligible for TPS allows Syrian nationals that arrived to the US prior to March 29, 2012 to stay in the US for a temporary period of 18 months. Registration for TPS is open for a 180-day period. Therefore, applications must be filed March 29, 2012 through September 25, 2012.
Important Notice: TPS registration for Syrian nationals ends two months from today. Syrians eligible for TPS must file their application no later than September 25, 2012.
ADC filed a formal petition with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requesting that TPS be granted to Syrian nationals present in the US on January 25, 2012. Since approval of the petition, ADC has filed multiple TPS applications and continues to strongly advocate on behalf of Syrian nationals in the US.
