Take Action: Tell Congress To Stop Funding Genocide, and Protect Civil Society

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | November 19, 2024 – This week, Congress will vote on legislation with major implications for the Palestinian movement. These votes, set for Wednesday, will shape US policy on military support for Israeli genocide and the ability of civil society organizations to advocate for an arms embargo. Now is the time to increase pressure on lawmakers. They must hear directly from their constituents.

The Senate will vote on the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRD) introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), marking the first time Congress votes on direct arms sales to Israel. Despite last week’s failure, the House plans to, once again, vote on H.R. 9495. This bill will grant the White House unchecked power to shut down nonprofits – including social justice groups, media organizations, universities, and civil liberties organizations – based unilaterally on accusations without due process.

Demand Congress Stop Arming Israeli Genocide and Protect Americans’ Rights

Our voices are making an impact. This historic Senate vote to block weapons to Israel reflects the growing pressure, while the House re-upping legislation aimed at silencing organizations that advocate for an arms embargo highlights the dark forces determined to undermine American democracy. ADC needs your help to make sure that Congress emphatically says no more weapons for Israeli genocide and that advocacy is not criminalized.

Members of the House must reject H.R. 9495 to protect the rights of all Americans. Constituents must tell their representatives that this legislation is an undemocratic tactic to suppress critical voices and dissent. Now, more than ever, organizations like ADC play a crucial role in defending these freedoms.

Join with ADC and thousands across America and demand that Congress do the right thing by voting for all six JRD’s and against H.R. 9495.
