Take Action: Join AAI, ADC, and CPAO in Contacting Your Elected Representatives about their Attendance at Netanyahu’s Speech
Washington, DC | www.adc.org | March 9, 2015 – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) calls on supporters to contact their elected representatives about their attendance at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s highly controversial speech in Congress last week.
Join ADC, the Arab American Institute (AAI), and the Coalition of Palestinian American Organizations (CPAO) in thanking your representative(s) if they were one of the 50+ members of Congress who skipped the speech. If your elected Senators or House Representative attended the speech, join with us in demanding an explanation.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu put on a shameful display of irresponsible, partisan grandstanding yesterday in front of a joint session of Congress. Not only did the Prime Minister spin lies about President Barack Obama’s negotiations with Iran, he also set out to stoke fear amongst House and Senate elected officials and the thousands of viewers watching a live stream of his speech on all the major network television stations. It is an outrage that the Republican leadership chose to give a foreign leader a stage to attack our President. His exclusive focus on Iran shifts focus away from the ongoing occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Netanyahu ran amok of his intelligence community, vast swaths of the Israeli electorate, and international law.
There were more than 50 Senate and House Democrats who stood up to Netanyahu and skipped his speech before Congress. A few key leaders even held a 45 minute press conference to explain why they did not attend. Please reference this list below to see if your Members of Congress took a stand by skipping the speech.
