ADC Celebrates IWD, Launches Women and Girls STEM Fellowship Program

Washington, D.C. | adc.org | March 8, 2023 – International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a day to recognize the challenges that women still face in achieving equality and to renew our commitment to addressing them. This year, we want to highlight the critical role of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education and careers in empowering women economically.

ADC is proud to announce the launch of our STEM Fellowship Program, which will provide mentorship for Arab women in the fields. Our program will offer mentorship, professional development, scholarships, and community building opportunities to Arab women and girls in STEM. By empowering women and girls to pursue careers in STEM, our program aims to create a more inclusive and innovative workforce and drive progress in these crucial fields.

Chair of ADC Women’s Empowerment Forum Dr. Doaa Taha said, “We at the ADC Women’s Empowerment Forum wish the world and its women a happy International Women’s Day, and under this year’s #EmbraceEquity Campaign, it is most appropriate to call for creating true inclusion by promoting Women in STEM to further such goals as an end to gender bias in technology and AI systems, to end online violence, to end women’s under-representation in STEM fields, to recognize women’s contribution in the tech field against all odds, and to ensure women’s full participation in the global digital technology economy. STEM Education is the only way to promote women’s inclusion in tech design and governance, and is the main vector for women’s genuine empowerment and for giving women a potent voice in our global tech-fueled world.”

National Executive Director of ADC, Abed Ayoub said, “Uplifting the next generation of women scientists and engineers is not only needed, it is necessary. I cannot think of a better way to honor International Women’s Day than by committing ADC to fostering the engagement, and participation of women in STEM”.

The launch of the fellowship program will be celebrated at a formal event in April, where participants will have the opportunity to meet with mentors and network with other women in STEM fields. The event will also feature guest speakers and panel discussions on topics related to women’s empowerment and STEM education. Additional information about the event in April will be released in the near future.

ADC is committed to creating a more equitable and just society, and we believe that empowering women is key to achieving that goal. We are excited to launch this fellowship program and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on the lives of women in STEM.
