On behalf of ADC’s Board of Directors, ADC Chair Dr. Ahmad Sbaiti issued the following announcement.
At its retreat held on July 12-13, 2002, the Board of Directors of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) reaffirmed its commitment to:
* Empower Arab Americans;
* Defend the civil rights of all people of Arab heritage in the United States;
* Promote civic participation;
* Encourage a balanced U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and;
* Support freedom and development in the Arab World.
Further, the Board reiterated its full support for the ADC President, Dr. Ziad Asali. He has consistently and appropriately represented the organization‘s mission and objectives as articulated in its by-laws. He has worked tirelessly towards ensuring the civil liberties and rights of the Arab-American community.
He has established a clear direction for the organization, its staff and membership, which emphasizes the inclusion of our entire community without regard to national origin, gender, and religious or political affiliation. The ADC Board enthusiastically endorsed and strongly supported Dr. Asali‘s leadership.
Further, the Board reaffirmed the necessity of its chapters and membership to strictly adhere to the by-laws of the organization, and to proper standards of governance and accountability.
