The Supreme Court will hear a landmark Trans rights case on workplace discrimination for Gay and Transgender people on October 8th, 2019. The Court will decide if Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects the Equal Employment of Transgender and LGBTQ persons in the workplace.
ADC stands with the LGBTQ community. LGBTQ rights are Human Rights. And the attack on the rights of LGBTQ Americans is an attack on the rights of all Americans. Nobody should be illegal in the United States. No one should lose their job because of who they are. We urge the Supreme Court to protect the rights of LGBTQ Americans.
Lower courts from around the nation have already ruled that employers are not allowed to discriminate on the basis of sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. However, if the Supreme Court chooses to gut the workplace protections of LGBTQ people, that poses the risk of eroding protections for all minorities.
Today, we #RiseUpOct8 for Trans Rights, and the rights of all Americans to be themselves.
