In Gaza, the current onslaught is being described as a genocide, at the same time Palestinians in the West Bank are under attack from Israeli settlers. In addition to the war, there is a humanitarian crisis across the Gaza Strip as medical supplies, food, water, and fuel cannot get into Gaza, leaving millions without the necessities needed to survive.
In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis and war, Senator Dick Durbin of IL is preparing a formal request urging DHS Secretary to designate the Palestinian territories for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and/or authorize Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for Palestinians present in the United States.
We urge you to contact your elected officials now and request they sign on and support Senator Durbin's request for TPS and DED immediately. TPS and DED offer temporary relief from removal and work authorization for nationals of Palestine who are already in the U.S. and are unable to return safely to their home country.
