Over the next two years, the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation is developing the Palestine Human Rights Litigation Project (PHRLP,) which aims to show how legal action can be used effectively to help secure justice and human rights. The project also highlights the many facets of International and human rights law. The hope is that PHRLP will eventually be institutionalized within an existing advocacy organization, where it can continue to grow.
At present, two lawsuits have been filed on behalf of Palestinian and Lebanese civilians against Israeli military officials, alleging that the official are guilty of war crimes, crimes against humanity, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, and extrajudicial killings.
