About ADC-WEF

The creation of the WEF is consistent with ADC’s values as an inclusive, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization, upholding civil rights as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. It is a new undertaking, which complements work previously done by ADC. In context of ADC’s current restructuring, it is designed to strengthen the gender empowerment movement, in order to mainstream it across ADC and the community it serves. In addition to celebrating International Women’s Day.

On behalf of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), I would like to personally invite you to our upcoming event, celebrating the 2014 International Women’s Day. The event is hosted by the new ADC Women’s Empowerment Forum (ADC-WEF). The event will be hosted on March 18th at the Downtown Ritz Carlton from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.


The Women’s Empowerment Forum (WEF) is a platform set up by the ADC to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women.


The program for this year is as follows:

10:30 AM – Panel Discussion: Women in the Media

  • Reema Abu Hamdieh, Correspondent for RT’s Arabic Channel

12:00 PM ADC-WEF Luncheon & Awards Ceremony

  • U.S. Ambassador Marcelle Wahba, Der Mar International, LLC.
  • Dr. Mary Sidawy, Professor of Pathology and Director of Anatomic Pathology at Georgetown University 
  • Dr. Mervat Tallawy, Career diplomat and first woman Ambassador from the Diplomatic Corps in Egypt
