California:

  • Thurs Jan. 8 at 7:00PM-9:00PM in Santa Barbara, CA. Fielding Graduate University will host a panel entitled, “The Increasing Militarization of Societies in the 21st Century.” Click here for details.

  • Thurs. Jan 8 at 2:00PM-3:30PM in Washington, D.C. The Brookings Institution presents a panel discussion entitled, “What Americans Think About the Fight Against ISIS.” Click here for details. 

  • Sat. Jan. 10 at 8PM in Washington, D.C.  Witness Against Torture will sponsor a panel entitled, “From Ferguson to Guantanamo: Institutionalized Brutality and Torture.” The panel is part of a week of events. Click here for details. 

  • Sun. Jan 11 at 1:00PM in Washington, D.C. Join Witness Against Torture and CODEPINK for a White House rally to close Guantánamo and end torture. The rally will be preceded by an interfaith religious service. Click here for details. 

  • Tues. Jan 13 at 7:00-9:00PM in Washington, D.C. at the Washington Peace CenterDr. Maha Hilal will discuss the relationship between the War on Terror policies and Muslim American political participation, alienation, and withdrawal. Senator Edward Brooke

Former Massachusetts Senator Edward Brooke was the first African-American to be elected as a state’s Attorney General and also the first to win a popular election to the U.S. Senate.

Senator Brooke passed away on Saturday at the age of 95.
