Breaking: Government Rescinds Student Ban

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) welcomes the decision by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to reverse course and rescind the ill-advised directive barring international students from remaining in the country if their universities switch to full online teaching.

ADC Legal Director Abed Ayoub states, “The administration attempted to disrupt the lives of thousands of individuals, and they were met with resounding resistance. We thank everyone who fought against this directive and defended international students during such uncertain times. We want to particularly thank Harvard, MIT, and all institutions of higher learning who brought legal action and provided immediate support to their international student body.”

We would also like to thank the many students who reached out to ADC for support and trusted that we would stand by their side. Know that our commitment to you continues and we are relieved that many of you are now able to remain in the country. Should you or anyone you know need assistance with immigration issues, please contact our legal department at legal@adc.org. ADC is dedicated to fighting for immigrant communities of all backgrounds and will continue to place pressure on our legislators and institutions to keep human rights at the forefront of their policies.
