ADC wishes all a Happy Orthodox Easter; Concern over Israel Targeting of Christians

Washington, D.C. | adc.org | April 16, 2023 – The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) family wishes all those celebrating a Happy and Blessed Orthodox Easter. Today is a time of renewal, hope, and joy, it is a special occasion for Christians around the world. Unfortunately for Palestinian Christians the joyous occasion of Easter does not shield them from the cruel, brutal and violent reality of living under Israeli aggression and apartheid.

Late yesterday Israeli Occupation Forces violently beat Christian worshippers at the Holy Sepulcher Church in Jerusalem. Israel has also limited the free flow of Christians in the Holy Land, impeding on their freedom to worship. In addition, Israel cancelled permits for Christians in Gaza hoping to attend Easter services in Jerusalem.

These actions by the apartheid regime of Israel fall in line with their regular targeting of Palestinian Christian in the Holy Land, and highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians of all faiths living under apartheid. The attacks on Christians come only a short time after Israeli Occupation Forces attacked Muslim worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Holy Month of Ramadan – actions that show Israel’s complete disregard and respect of faith, and the apartheid regimes intended policies of preventing Palestinians from being able to freely and safely practice their faith.

As we celebrate Easter, let us take the opportunity to reflect on the values of compassion, forgiveness, and love that this holiday embodies. Let us come together in the spirit of Easter and work towards a more just, peaceful, and harmonious future for all

We wish everyone a Happy and Blessed Easter. عيد فصح سعيد
