ADC Welcomes One Year Anniversary of US-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research

Washington, DC, July 3, 2007, The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) welcomes the one year anniversary of the U.S.-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. This important partnership between the US and the Arab world is supported by the US State Department‘s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). ADC President Mary Rose Oakar stated, “ADC applauds the State Department for their initiative to advance efforts in the Arab world to help solve the health crisis affecting Arab women.” Oakar, while serving in the US House of Representatives was instrumental in increasing federal support for breast cancer research and mammography coverage in Medicare.
Oakar said, “This partnership is especially important because Semitic women have a higher incident of breast cancer than most women of other backgrounds”
