ADC Submits Public Records Request Regarding Little Arabia

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | August 22, 2022 – Ahead of the next Anaheim City Council meeting to consider the designation of Little Arabia, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) has filed a public records request under California and Anaheim public records laws for all documentation regarding the attempt to obtain designation. The filing requests 68 specific types of records, including communications between council members, city officials, administration officials, and legal opinions from the City of Anaheim Legal Department. Through this request, ADC intends to ensure that the Arab American community was not, and will not be, discriminated against in the course of efforts to obtain designation for the  Little Arabia Business District.

You can read a copy of the request here.

Since our founding in 1980, ADC has fought discrimination and negative stereotypes affecting the Arab American community, serving as a public voice educating the broader American public about the culture and traditions of the community. This request furthers ADC’s mission and will provide transparency to a process that has been grossly delayed.

ADC members in Anaheim, along with partners and allies, have been fiercely advocating for this long past due designation, and deserve to know if ignorance and bias have contributed to this delay. Additional information, including any response from the City of Anaheim, will be provided to the public.
