ADC Statement on President Joe Biden Dropping out of Presidential Race

Washington, D.C. | www.adc.org | July 21, 2024 – Today’s decision by President Biden to withdraw from the 2024 Presidential Election marks a moment of political clarity for both the President and the Democratic Party. As previously cautioned by the ADC, President Biden’s position on Gaza has significantly eroded his support, particularly among Arab Americans and young progressives. Coupled with concerns regarding his capacity, both mentally and physically, to fulfill the demands of the presidency, today’s decision is widely seen as a positive development

ADC National Executive Director Abed Ayoub said, “Supporting genocide is not a winning campaign strategy, nor will it ever be. President Biden’s choice to withdraw is commendable, and we hope it paves the way for a nominee who advocates for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, while upholding universal human rights.” Ayoub further stressed the necessity for the DNC to adopt a transparent nomination process that earnestly considers the sentiments of the party’s grassroots.

It is critical to act now and demand that the Democratic Party heed the voices of its base, and nominate a candidate who opposes genocide, champions human rights, and stands for civil rights and equality domestically.
