ADC Session: One State or Two? What’s Best for Palestinians?

ADC Convention Session: One State or Two-State Solution –

What’s Best for the Palestinians?

Friday, September 22nd, 2017 – 9:30AM – 10:45AM at the ADC National Convention

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | September 14, 2017 – The policy in support of a two-state peace deal as the proper agreement for the Arab-Israeli conflict is being challenged by a new generation of Palestinians and solidarity activists who argue that the Palestinian struggle is a civil rights battle for equal rights best resolved in a common state for Arabs and Jews. These individuals point to the transformation of Apartheid South Africa into a “Rainbow Nation” as a model path for Palestinians and Israelis, Israeli settlement construction that might proscrive a viable and independent Palestinian state, and the right-of-return of Palestinian refugees to what is now Israel. Conversely, proponents of continuing on the two-state approach argue that a two-state solution is a prerequisite for any one-state, that Palestinian interests are better served in their own state, and that it is foolhardy to go up against a formidable international consensus.
Join us for an informative and dynamic panel discussion on the future course of the Palestinian struggle for freedom, the role of the international community, and the potential of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement to spearhead change.
