ADC Organizes 2016 Arabesque Lecture Series

arabesqueThe American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) organized its 2016 Arabesque lecture series: “The Politics of Hate and Exclusion in the Presidential Race” at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center last week. Over 30 people were in attendance of the timely event and 300 viewed the event online through Facebook Live. The event was co-sponsored with the Hindu American Foundation. Speakers included Edward Ayoob, a partner at Barnes and Thornburg, LLP in their Federal Relations Group, Nazir Harb, a Ph.D. candidate in Georgetown University’s Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies, and Lakshmi Sridaran, Director of National Policy and Advocacy at SAALT. The event was moderated by National President of the  ADC, Samer Khalaf, Esq.

The Politics of Hate Poster v24

Some of the issues discussed at the panel were the impact on the hate rhetoric in the upcoming national conventions and presidential election, the history of racism, the responsibility of political leaders to address hate speech and the implications of the first amendment.
