ADC-Michigan files lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University for violating voter Rights

April 28, 2014

Dearborn – Attorney Fatina Abdrabboh, the Director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’s (ADC) Michigan Regional Office, filed a lawsuit in Washtenaw County Court this morning naming 6 Plaintiffs against Eastern Michigan University (EMU). The lawsuit outlines how EMU tossed out over 1,000 votes cast by the student body which violated the student’s fundamental right to vote as outlined in the Voting Rights Act.

Attorney Abdrabboh reiterated that voting is a fundamental right and violating that right must not be tolerated.  Abdrabboh will be seeking an emergency injunction to prevent Eastern Michigan University and other named defendants from further conduct that compromises the voice of the students and their rights to vote.  See pictures below of Attorney Abdrabboh discussing the lawsuit with the media in front of the EMU campus this afternoon.
