ADC Joins Fellow Americans in Marking Second Anniversary of September 11

Washington D.C. — The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) today joined Americans across the country in marking the second anniversary of the terrorist attacks against our country of September 11, 2001, and mourning the thousands of innocent victims.
ADC President Mary Rose Oakar said, “Arab Americans experienced the tragedy of September 11 in the same way all our fellow Americans did, with the same emotions of shock, horror and outrage. And, of course, numerous Arab Americans who worked in and around the World Trade Center in New York City lost their lives on that terrible day, while others were represented among the firefighters, police and emergency rescue teams that rush to the scenes of the tragedy.” Former Congresswoman Oakar concluded, “We can never allow ourselves forget the evil that was visited upon our country two years ago, and we reiterate our pledge to stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow Americans in opposing those who would attack our country.”
