The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) congratulates Robert Saleh on being named the Head Coach of the New York Jets. A native of Dearborn, Michigan and alum of Fordson High School, Saleh most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers – earning accolades as one of the top defensive coordinators in the NFL. He helped lead the 49ers to a Superbowl birth in Superbowl LIV, and consistently led one of the Top 5 ranked defenses during his tenure.
Saleh becomes the third Arab American head coach in NFL History, joining Abe Gibron (Chicago Bears) and Rich Kotite (NY Jets, Philadelphia Eagles). Saleh is the first Muslim American head coach in the NFL. Prior to joining the Jets, Saleh also served in different coaching capacities for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans. Saleh earned a championship ring in Superbowl XLVIII while serving as the Defensive Quality Control coach for the Seahawks.
We congratulate Robert on this achievement. He has shown that Arab Americans can excel at any level, and in any field. He serves as a role model for young Arab Americans, showing them that with hard work, commitment and dedication they can achieve their goals. We look forward to a successful tenure with the Jets, and continued success in the NFL.
