WASHINGTON, DC – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) condemns the reported fatal shooting earlier today of an American diplomat in Amman, Jordan.
The U.S. Embassy in Amman identified the victim as Laurence Foley, a 62-year-old employee of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Foley’s killing represents the first such incident in the Jordanian capital.
ADC reiterates its long-standing opposition to political assassinations regardless of their motives or the identity of the victims or the perpetrators, be they individuals, groups or states. ADC urges the Jordanian government to investigate this crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
