ADC Announces 2007 Annual National Convention

Washington, DC | March 20, 2007 | The Annual National Convention of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) will take place June 8-10, 2007, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel located at: 2500 Calvert Street NW, Washington, DC 20008.
This year‘s convention, “Toward a More Perfect Union,” will continue the legacy of the largest annual gathering of Arab Americans in our nation‘s capital. This year we are pleased to announce Governor Howard Dean and Senator Chuck Hagel as two of our confirmed featured speakers. ADC is also delighted to announce that it will be holding the US premiere of the documentary “Reel Bad Arabs,” along with a private audience with Dr. Jack Shaheen, both included as part of the Convention package. Additionally, NAACP‘s Hilary Shelton will be accepting the annual ADC ‘Excellence in Advocacy Award‘ during the Convention.
Other invitees include: Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, Congressman Keith Ellison, Sen. Barak Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton, Sen. John McCain, Sen. John Edwards, Congressman John Conyers, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Gov. Bill Richardson, Sen. Joe Biden, Sen. Christopher Dodd, artist and activist Vanessa Redgrave, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Muhammad and Yolanda Ali, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights President Wade Henderson, and Massachusetts Homeland Security chief Juliet Kayyem among others.

CONVENTION REGISTRATION

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

Additionally, from 2-6 pm on Sunday, June 10, ADC will join a rally and march marking the 40th Anniversary of the 1967 Israeli occupation being organized by United for Peace and Justice and the US Campaign to End the Occupation. The Rally will take place on the Capitol lawn in front of the reflecting pool and the march will commence at 4 pm and will proceed to the White House Ellipse.
Then, on Monday, June 11, ADC will join these groups in holding a lobby day. ADC and these groups will advocate for a fair and balanced US policy toward the Middle East and an end to the occupation of Palestinian lands. ADC will also advocate for domestic legislative agendas that directly affect the Arab-American community including guarantees of due process for non-citizens in comprehensive immigration reform, Senate oversight hearings on the National Security Entry-Exit System (NSEERS), and passage of racial profiling, hate crimes and law enforcement integrity acts during the 110th Congress.
