Washington, DC — The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) has recently published a guide entitled, “Welcome to the United States: A Guide for New Immigrants.” The publication details the rights and responsibilites of permanent residents (green card holders) and provides information on how to become a US citizen. The guide also contains information on how to settle in the Unites States including obtaining a social security number, filing for tax returns, finding a place to live, getting involved with your community, and basic civics information that introduce immigrants to the US system of government.
The guide is published in Arabic as well as other languages, including Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Korean, Russian, Vietnamese, Tagalog,, Portuguese, French and Haitian Creole. The guide is comprehensive and very useful and is available at: http://uscis.gov/graphics/citizenship/welcomeguide/index.htm
