The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) commends the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division (DOJ-CRD) on its decision to begin the investigative process into the shooting death of Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah by FBI agents in Detroit in October of 2009. The Imam was shot 21 times by FBI agents during a raid in Dearborn, Michigan.

ADC Outraged by Pickens Advertisement

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) strongly objects to the provocative and inflammatory images and overtones in a recently televised advertisement by T. Boone Pickens in his attempt to promote a Pickens Plan for natural gas as an alternative to imported oil.
Such characterizations of an entire people in a region of the world are inaccurate, offensive and outright discriminatory.

 The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) sends its prayers and expresses its deep concerns for the people of Haiti in light of this latest tragedy. The death toll is now estimated to exceed 200,000 people, and it is feared that the actual number may be higher.

| ADC Commends IRS Decision to Investigate Settlement Funding
 The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) commends the decision by Commissioner Douglas Shulman to publicly commit the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in tackling the issue of US charities that launder tax exempt US donations into illegal Israeli West Bank settlement activities.
In 2009, ADC filed multiple administrative complaints with the US Department of the Treasury, including the IRS, requesting investigations into the activities of organizations claiming tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the US Tax Code and using funds for the development of illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

| New TSA Guidelines Troubling and Ultimately Ineffective
 The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is deeply concerned by the new Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) directives, which went into effect on January 4th at midnight. According to news sources, these directives will require citizens from 14 countries, all Arab or Muslim countries, with the exception of Cuba, to go through enhanced security screening.

| ADC Appalled by Attack on Fort Hood, Community Urged to Take Safety Precautions
 The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is appalled by the attack that took place earlier today against soldiers and others at Fort Hood, Texas. Preliminary news reports have indicated that a rogue Army Major Nidal Hasan and two others shot and killed at least 12 people and injured numerous others.

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) joined millions of Americans in hailing the passage of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
